When most of humanity vanishes overnight, four unlikely survivors sheltering in an abandoned office discover they’ve been changed – stronger, faster, sharper. As shadowy forces close in, they must decide whether their new abilities are salvation…or the reason the world ended.

synopsis

Months after a mysterious global event, Los Angeles stands silent. Allison, Javi, Natalie, and Matt – former bar coworkers – have carved out a fragile existence in a makeshift refuge. They ration food, jury-rig power, and cling to old routines while reckoning with trauma and loss.

But something is happening to them: Allison bends metal without realizing it, Natalie’s reflexes are lightning-fast, Javi can hear miles away. And Matt – calm, resourceful, evasive – seems to know more than he admits. When a garbled radio signal suggests other survivors and black ops trucks sweep the city in grid searches, the group learns the truth: they are part of a small fraction of humanity genetically altered by an alien-engineered event.

Survival is no longer about scavenging supplies – it’s about evading capture, confronting what they are becoming, and deciding whether to hide, run, or fight back.

tone

Hybrid Dawn fuses intimate survival drama with grounded sci-fi and action-thriller elements. The tone is tense and claustrophobic, set against the eerie emptiness of a fallen world, yet layered with warmth in the bonds between characters. Moments of paranoia and dread collide with flashes of dark humor and resilience, as ordinary people discover extraordinary abilities—and the terrifying forces determined to control them.

the setting

The office is both their refuge and their prison… (Add something here about how they’ve transformed it to become their own safe spaces and what the office represents for them in this post- apocolyptic world etc.)

themes

Hybrid Dawn puts characters with mental illness and chronic conditions at the center of the story.

Allison has bipolar disorder – she is rationing her last psychiatric medications and missing her support system, while developing power she can’t control.

● Javi wore hearing aids before the event – now hishearing is superhuman, but overwhelming.

● Natya has MS – which her abilities appear to have cured, at least for now.

Each of them is navigating a world where the systems they relied on no longer exist.

This is a story about found family, institutional betrayal and holding onto your humanity when everything is changing.

The people society often sidelines, might just be the ones who save what’s left.
